Abstract

Objective: To present the importance of multidisciplinary care for premature babies in the intensive care unit. Method: Experience report, which took place in 2018, through the supervision of internships in higher education in health. The internship took place in a reference maternity hospital in the state of Paraíba. During supervision, it was noticed that the multidisciplinary team held meetings to discuss the health of preterm newborns and the main interventions and care that could be performed, aiming to outline what was best for the baby and his family. Results: It was understood that the team that offers care in a multidisciplinary way is relevant, as it offers comprehensiveness and several possibilities for improving the health of the newborn. The team sought to build a care plan together with all professionals in the sector, which brought a greater approach to evaluating hospitalized babies. Conclusion: Prematurity requires comprehensive care and all professionals involved in the ICU. Therefore, it is important that health professionals share their opinions, allowing the exchange of knowledge between them, aiming at building a care plan for preterm infants.
