Abstract

Introduction: Research on the profile of patients carried out in the health area contributes to the improvement of knowledge in priority areas for the population, establishing a link between the academic world and people's health needs. Based on the research, it is possible that intervention actions are developed, in addition to allowing the creation of subsidies for the elaboration of public policies and for the constant improvement of the SUS. Objective: To identify the profile of patients at Uninorte's teaching clinic, in order to know the greatest demands of speech therapy services. Method: The study will be carried out from the collection and analysis of data referring to the origin of the referral, age group, gender, residence and complaints of children, adolescents, adults and the elderly, collected from the records of the initial interviews. And the sample will consist of all the individuals registered in the Speech Therapy sector of the Uninorte teaching clinic. Results: Of the 100 (one hundred) analyzed medical records of patients seen from March 2019 to March 2022, most were referred by neurologists (19%). Sex, male (53%) and age group between 6 to 12 years (37%) were predominant. The origin of the referral was the SUS (68%). The most common complaint was speech delay (48%). Considering the present diagnoses, the most prevalent was autism spectrum disorder (ASD) (18%). And the prevalent type of speech therapy was therapy, continuous care. Conclusion: Research on the profile of patients carried out in the health area created to improve knowledge in priority areas for the population, establishing a link between the academic world and people's health needs. Based on the research, it is possible that intervention actions, new medicines, will be developed, in addition to allowing the creation of incentives for the elaboration of public policies and for the constant improvement of the SUS.
