Abstract

Objective: to know the epidemiological profile of pregnant women notified with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome by COVID-19 in the North of Minas Gerais. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive, documentary and retrospective epidemiological study, carried out through the analysis of notification forms released in the Information System for Epidemiological Surveillance of Influenza, in the north of Minas Gerais. The target population of the analysis were pregnant patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome who tested positive for Covid-19 notified in the period from January 2020 to April 2021. Results: it was observed that of the 59 cases, most 33 (55.9%) were aged between 26 to 35 years and 52 (88.1%) residents of the urban area. The most common symptoms among patients were fatigue 11 (18.6%) followed by fever, cough and dyspnea. It was also observed that patients with diabetes 4 (6.7%) and heart disease 2 (3.3%) were the most affected. Of the total of 59 records, 6 (10.2%) evolved to death. Conclusion: the present study showed the vulnerability of pregnant women who are more susceptible to acquiring respiratory pathogens. The gestational condition increases the risk of respiratory viral infections, which can progress to a more severe clinical condition and may even lead to death.
