Abstract
The first consultation represents a fundamental moment in monitoring maternal and child health. It is an opportunity to offer important guidance on caring for the newborn and strengthen the emotional bond between the mother-baby binomial. The healthcare professional plays an important role as a facilitator of this process, offering the necessary emotional and psychological support during this transition phase. In addition to support and guidance for the mother and her family. This reflection leads us to think about the importance of ensuring the effective implementation of public health policies, especially those focused on maternal and child health. It is essential that there is a joint effort by managers, health professionals and civil society to ensure that all children and mothers have access to adequate monitoring from the first days of life, which can significantly contribute to the reduction of neonatal mortality and to promoting health as a whole.
