Abstract
This article addresses the relationship between psychology and health promotion, with an emphasis on the role of psychological interventions in the context of chronic diseases. To this end, we begin with a literature review conducted using the Google Scholar, SciELO and PePSIC databases. The descriptors used were “health psychology”, “chronic diseases” and “psychological interventions”. We seek to understand how psychotherapeutic practices can improve patients’ quality of life, reduce associated psychological symptoms and promote general well-being. We observed that interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, support groups and psychoeducation present significant results, while psychodynamic approaches contribute to the emotional coping of serious conditions. We conclude that interdisciplinarity is essential for effective and humanized treatment. Thus, this study reinforces the importance of integrating psychology into health systems, highlighting its relevance in comprehensive patient care.
