Abstract
Introduction: Educational groups are a methodology for care, in the context of pregnant women, it is an effective way to teach and allow the exchange of knowledge. Operationalizing women’s health is crucial in health care, and enables the construction of new practices, based on the knowledge that was exchanged in the group’s realization. Health education through groups is one of the most accomplished methods, as it brings pregnant women together, obtains a dialogue between them and health professionals. Objective: To highlight the importance of health education groups for pregnant women and their constructive practices. Methodology: A literature review was carried out, with publications from 2014 to 2018, in which the publications were inserted in Google Scholar, available in Portuguese and free of charge. Results: For the pregnant woman, the fact of having a group to promote health through education is very positive. The community helps to reduce anxieties, to exchange knowledge, to share feelings related to pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium. Final Considerations: It is necessary to frequently stimulate this moment among pregnant women and professionals, aiming at the prevention and promotion of health.
