ANALYZE RISK FACTORS FOR CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES IN USERS OF THE FAMILY HEALTH UNIT

Abstract

This study is about risk factors for cardiovascular disease in users of a basic health unit. Objective: To analyze the risk factors for cardiovascular diseases in users registered at the Basic Health Unit, to characterize the sociodemographic profile and the prospects for changing habits that are harmful to health. Methodology: This is an exploratory, descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The investigation was carried out in a Basic Family Health Unit, linked to the Sanitary District IV, in the city of João Pessoa-PB, with a sample of 35 users registered in that unit with a diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. In data collection, a semi-structured interview script was used. To analyze the empirical material, descriptive statistical procedures were adopted. Results: As for the sociodemographic profile, there was a predominance of 71% females, 65% were married, 88% aged between 41 and 60 years, 88% with an incomplete elementary education, and 71% surviving on a family income of one minimum wage. They present risk factors such as arterial hypertension 43%, diabetes 23%, overweight 14%, sedentary lifestyle 14% and smoking 6%. Conclusion: We conclude that there is a high prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors among users of the Health Unit. More effort is recommended by all professionals in the health team, in order to adopt comprehensive care strategies for users focused on promotion of health and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
