Abstract
Objective: To reflect on the importance of preparing the nursing staff for neonatal resuscitation. Method: Study carried out from readings of important materials for the newborn's health, such as: Guidelines, booklets, manuals, books and scientific articles. Results: It was seen in the reading that not only the nursing team needs to be trained, but other professionals as well, as any and all newborns may need neonatal resuscitation. Some materials guide the organization of teams in scales, aiming at greater effectiveness in the selection of professionals in times of urgency. It is necessary to carry out the maternal anamnesis and organize the preparation of material to be used immediately in the delivery room. All materials must be available and easily accessible prior to the time of birth. Resources are needed to help with the baby's assessment, temperature maintenance, airway aspiration, ventilation and medication administration according to the child's needs. Conclusion: It was observed the relevance of the preparation of the nursing and health team to carry out neonatal resuscitation, in view of the readings performed.
