Abstract

Objective: To describe nursing care for a child with neonatal jaundice admitted to the intensive care unit. Method: Research in the form of experience report, carried out in 2018, under the supervision of trainee students in the field of nursing. The experience took place in a reference maternity hospital in the state of Paraíba. In which, there was curiosity to know more about the nursing care aimed at children with jaundice, who required intensive hospitalization. Results: It was observed that the child needed to have heavy diapers frequently, in order to assess the presence of eliminated urine and feces, in addition to maintenance with oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, venous access, phototherapy, administration of prescribed medications and change of position . Conclusion: It is important to provide the necessary care to the child with the presence of jaundice, as each assessment guides the actions that are taken later
