Abstract
We sought to understand the interface between palliative care and primary health care. An integrative literature review was conducted in the secondary databases Virtual Health Library, Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences and the Scientific Electronic Library Online, the descriptors palliative care, primary health care and family health strategy guided the search for studies. The effective development of systematic actions in relation to palliative care in primary health care run into some barriers, including professionals and academic, structural and managerial. Although primary health care is the ordering body of the single health system in the country, there is an important gap between this level of care and quality care in the field of palliative care.
