Abstract
The aim of this study was to analyze the phenotypic frequency of the ABO system and the Rh factor in the participants of the “Aqui tem mais saúde” project carried out by Faculdade do Sul da Bahia in the municipalities of Teixeira de Freitas, Itamaraju and Medeiros Neto. The ABO system constitutes the main human blood group. This consists of four blood groups: A, B, AB and O. The Rh factor is defined by the D or Rh0 antigens, whose presence or absence determines the phenotype known as Rh positive and Rh negative, respectively. The method used was hemoagglutination in a tube, which consists of the reaction of the reagents with anti-A, anti-B and anti-D antibodies in the blood samples of the participants. 119 samples were collected, there was a predominance of females in the samples, The O phenotype was more frequent, while the AB group was the least representative. The understanding of these data allows an evaluation of the distribution of these genes in the population
