Abstract
Objective: To report the experience of providing preventive guidance on the prevention of newborn health emergencies. Method: Experience report, which took place through a higher education institution in health, in 2019, through a conversation circle with those responsible for newborn children. The purpose of the action was to guide how those responsible could prevent emergency situations. It was carried out with 6 mothers and their babies, only two of the mothers were with their partners. The methodology used was that of popular health education, using the exchange of knowledge between the participants and the box of doubts to trigger questions. Results: Those responsible for the newborns were instructed about: prevention of neonatal choking, sudden death, safe position for the baby to sleep, care after breastfeeding, aiming to prevent reflux, observation of the onset of fever, seizures and cardiac and respiratory problems. Conclusion: The actions of prevention and promotion of child health are relevant to the public context of health care, making this study an important report
