OPTIMIZATION IN THE PHYSICAL AVAILABILITY OF MINING MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT

Abstract

Loading and transport operations are important steps in the mine-clearing process. One of the key competitive elements of the mining industry is operational efficiency. Therefore, the physical availability of the equipment is essential for the production and execution of the activities. One way to ensure physical availability is through efficient maintenance management systems. In this sense, the objective of this work is to analyze the preventive maintenance process and some maintenance indicators. The research method used was the case study, and the data collected was through access to internal documents of the company. As results, a pilot project of improvement in preventive maintenance, preventive maintenance procedure was elaborated and some problems were also verified in the systematic generation of parts of revisions of trucks off roads. This work contributes to the idea that the articulation between the different types of maintenance (corrective, preventive and predictive) can lead to better solutions in terms of maintenance management to guarantee the operational efficiency of the mining industry.
