CANON LAW: THE FRANCISCO ERA AND THE CHANGES IN MARRIAGE

Abstract

This paper aims to address the theme of Canon Law and its evolution to the present day. From its origin Canon Law influenced and was influenced by the society in which it was contained. The conduct of the church and its direct relationship with the community served by it were always guided by ecclesiastical codes and determinations. The work, through a bibliographical survey and re-reading of articles and doctrines seeks to present a better explanation of the subject, with a synthesis of the main points of academic interest. The main objective of the work is to delimit the origin and evolution of the law and norms of the church. In the last decades, we can see a movement for the rapprochement of the church with its flock, and especially in the era governed by Pope Francis, it is possible to point out important points of change of conduct, motivated by a quest for equality social, and compassion, presents notorious transformations, whether in administrative or directly related to people’s lives, as is the case of Catholic matrimony.
