Abstract
This article brings for analysis and debate some considerations regarding the external evaluation SAEB (Basic Education Evaluation System) that is applied throughout the Brazilian territory, having as main objective: diagnosis of basic education in Brazil. External evaluations are important because they serve as a thermometer for municipalities, since they are alerted to continue investing so that the indexes obtained do not fall and can advance more and more in the quality of education, from technologically equipped schools to better prepared teachers with the incentive of continued training. Relevant knowledge about the whole structure of the evaluation, what it is necessary for the student to master to make a good test and how the municipalities can take advantage of the results obtained to improve their education systems internally, are also relevant points of this work.
