Abstract

Introduction: Children have specific situations that create a moment of urgency and emergency. Family members, teachers and health professionals need to learn how to deal with these situations, and seek to ensure the rescue of that child. Some urgent and emergency situations can lead the child to infant death, which should be avoided early, with prevention and health promotion actions. Objective: To describe scientific articles on children’s urgencies and emergencies found in the literature. Methodology: Bibliographic research, carried out with the in-depth reading of eight articles on the topic of children’s urgencies and emergencies. To find the aforementioned publications, it was necessary to develop a search strategy, defining inclusion and exclusion criteria. Articles of the following modality were selected: those published in the period 2016 to 2020, with full access and found in the bases of the Online Electronic Scientific Library (SciELO), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) and Google Scholar . The articles found were organized in tables and tables, with information and characteristics of the articles. Results: Articles from the year 2016 were predominant, with 2 publications on the topic. It was possible to see that children can easily get hurt, with drowning in buckets of water or swimming pools, falls everywhere, musculoskeletal injuries, electric shocks, fires, as well as dangerous situations, such as the child losing his family in busy place. Thus, there are numerous situations described in the current literature, which address the need for new ways of caring for and promoting the health of these children. Final Considerations: The relevance of the studied topic is understood, and the extent to which urgent and emergency situations can be decisive for the continuity of the child’s life. Therefore, it is necessary that those responsible for children, as well as society, be taught how to care for and prevent these accidents.
